The Crown Review

The Crown is a Netflix Original TV Show that premiered in 2016

The Crown is a historical drama television series created and broadcast by Netflix. The show tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and her reign. The series’ idea came to light out of Morgan’s 2006 film The Queen.

The show starts from the Queen’s marriage to Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in 1947 and follows all the personal, romantic and  political events that took place during that era. Two seasons have aired so far with each having 10 episodes. The show is scheduled to cover a total of 60 episodes spread over 6 seasons.

A great aspect of this series is that it covers a great deal of the events that shaped the second half of the 20th century through the story of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Crown’s success is attributed to the skillful combination of world-class acting, directing, writing, and cinematography. Another attribute that contributed to the success is the accurate historical references and accounts of the Queen’s reign.

Notable performance of John Lithgow  as Winston Churchill has been praised by TV critics. The series has received multiple nominations and awards since its inception.

Netflix has delivered yet again great TV content with the addition of The Crown.
