Homeland is a drama TV show that premiered in October 2011 on the US cable network Showtime and has been on air since. Two additional seasons have been confirmed where the eighth season being the final one in 2019

The TV show can be considered a spy thriller series with the episodes covering the intelligence scene and the race to catch terrorists and stop terror attacks. It is based on an Israeli TV show called Prisoners of War.

The series starts off with Carrie Mathison who is a Central Intelligence Agency officer suffering from bipolar disorder trying to unravel the truth behind a US Marine Corps sniper, Nicholas Brody following his release from captivity. She believes that he was turned by Al-Qaeda during his imprisonment during the war in Iraq. The show follows the covert operations run by the CIA in an effort to stop any terrorist operation targeting the United States.

The series progressed over the years to detail the wide scale of operations run by intelligence agencies around the world and the war on terror that is present across vast regions and multiple countries.

The series has received generally positive feedback so far.
